Naturally the best since 1989 for your dog and cat

BF®Petfood, which includes BIOFOOD®, is the first pet food company in the Benelux to offer natural and organic pet food for dogs and cats with recyclable packaging.

- Dutch top quality, natural and organic pet food products, recyclable packaging, sustainable, local production, and a small ecological footprint. -

At the start of the Frisian family business BIOFOOD Diervoeding BV on September 27, 1989, the then-director Wiebe Bijlsma focused on natural ingredients based on 'respect for animals, people, and the environment'.

This was a visionary outlook. Because of a growing awareness for animals and the environment, and a good price-quality ratio, more and more people with a dog and/or cat are choosing natural and organic products from BF®Petfood.

History

Everything began with founder Wiebe Bijlsma. In 1989, he saw with his own eyes how countless pets continued to struggle with itching, dull coats, and digestive problems due to conventional commercial food. His conclusion was clear: it could and should be done differently. He developed food as nature intended: high-quality meat from the same chain as food for humans, fresh herbs, natural vitamins and minerals, and natural preservatives such as vitamin E and rosemary extract. No artificial colors, fragrances, or flavors, and no chemical preservation. Simply honest, pure, and incredibly tasty. Subsequently, organic products were also added to the range.

A household name

By now, that small family business has grown into a beloved household name throughout the Netherlands and beyond. Thousands of pet owners saw their pets visibly improve: more energy, a shiny coat, less itching, better digestion, and above all, a very happy dog or cat. As a family business, we are proud to be the market leader in the Netherlands with our famous sheep fat bonbons, and we were also the first to bring rawhide chews to the Netherlands.

In addition to organic kibble for dogs, we also offer, under our brand name BIOFOOD, organic wet food for dogs and cats that even the pickiest eaters love.

Assortment and development

In addition to complete food, our pet food range has been significantly expanded with natural snacks, supplements, tablets, fats, and care products. Everything is made with the same love, the same strict controls, and the same Dutch top quality. Our organic line bears the EU Organic logo. On all our products, you will find the GREEN-guarantee label, which ensures a natural, safe, and healthy end product without chemical additives, so you can always be sure you are giving the very best.

The sustainable “no waste” packaging used is made of mono-material, which is recyclable. This makes us the first pet food company in the Netherlands and the Benelux to offer natural and organic pet food with recyclable packaging.
