Collection: Rawhide chews
For centuries, wolves and canines in the wild have enjoyed chewing on the bones, hide, and tendons of their prey. This promotes healthy gums and clean teeth and molars. For our modern "house" dogs, prey—including bone, hide, and tendons—is effectively replaced by Rawhide Dental chew bones from BF®Petfood, made from the dried and digestible "untanned hide" (rawhide) of free-range cattle left over from meat production for the human sector.
Rawhide is made from the inner layer (dermis) of cattle hide. It is not made from the hypodermis (subcutaneous connective tissue), as is sometimes claimed on the internet. This digestible (inner) layer of the dermis naturally consists primarily of collagen protein. Collagen is the most important structural protein for dogs and is essential for their vitality. Because natural production decreases with age, extra collagen helps keep joints, cartilage, and tendons supple and strong. In addition, it nourishes hair follicles and strengthens the skin barrier, which ensures a healthy, shiny coat and less itching. From within, the protein supports a healthy intestinal wall and digestion. Finally, it has an immediate benefit for dental health: while chewing on collagen-rich snacks, the protein actively dissolves plaque via saliva and prevents tartar.
Because dental problems are common in dogs, a structural approach is important and necessary, in addition to periodic dental check-ups. Giving your dog responsible chew bones is a good, healthy, and pleasant way of providing dental care.
Our unique BF® Rawhide Dental chew bone is a tasty and healthy natural toothbrush for every dog. Available in various forms, including knots, rolls, chips, rings, and cracklings.
Because your dog deserves only the very best.
Please note: There are major quality differences between the rawhide from Asia (B/C quality) that is offered and our BF® Rawhide Dental from South America (A quality). More information can be found here.
